Megan Grant Named Big Ten Player of the Week

ROSEMONT, Ill. – Junior utility Megan Grant on the No. 9-ranked UCLA softball team was named Big Ten Player of the Week, it was announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.
This marks the Bruins' (36-5, 9-1 Big Ten) fourth weekly honor from the Big Ten Conference this season and the first Player of the Week award of Grant's career. Grant was named Pac-12 Freshman of the Week twice in 2023.
Grant led UCLA to a perfect 4-0 record last week, including a top-25 sweep of No. 21 Ohio State, with a team-best .727 batting average (8-for-11), two home runs, nine runs batted in, 1.455 slugging percentage and .769 on-base percentage.
Grant played the hero in game one versus the Buckeyes on Friday, going 2-for-4 with two home runs and a career-high seven RBI. Grant's second homer of the night was a walk-off grand slam to secure a mercy-rule victory, 14-6, in five innings. Her third career multi-homer performance brought her season home run total to 17, which is tied for the Big Ten lead. The grand slam was the fourth of Grant's career. Grant's first homer in game one was a three-run shot to cap an eight-run second inning.
Grant recorded two hits in each of UCLA's four games on the week. She also recorded a pair of doubles in a 2-for-2 performance versus UC San Diego on Tuesday.
On the season, Grant leads the Bruins with 17 home runs and 1.528 OPS and ranks second with 57 runs batted in. The San Bruno, Calif. product has heated up as of late, recording a team-best .556 batting average (15-for-27), six home runs, 23 RBI and 1.370 slugging over her UCLA's 10 games.
Grant and the Bruins are back in action tomorrow on Tuesday, April 8 for a road contest at Cal Baptist in Riverside, Calif. hosted at Funk Stadium. Game time is scheduled for 6 p.m. (PT).
