Jaquez, Kneepkens Advance to Women’s AmeriCup Quarterfinals

Santiago, Chile – Gabriela Jaquez and Gianna Kneepkens have qualified for the quarterfinals at the 2025 FIBA Women's AmeriCup with Mexico and USA, respectively.
 
Kneepkens and Team USA went undefeated, topping the Group B rankings. Mexico avoided elimination as host country Chile lost to Puerto Rico in the final game of group play; Jaquez and Team Mexico will face defending gold medalist Brazil on Friday.

Jaquez Leads Mexico in Group Play
The 6-foot guard opened her tournament with a 22-point outing (8-19 FG) in a win over host Chile. The Bruin also had five rebounds and a pair of assists as Mexico claimed a 76-59 victory. Jaquez and Team Mexico fell on the second night of the international tournament despite an 8-point, 10-rebound effort against Colombia.
 
She found a better rhythm against Puerto Rico, scoring a team-high 15 points (2-for-5 3FG) and snatching four rebounds. Jaquez struggled against USA, scoring six points on 10 shot attempts.
 
Jaquez averaged 12.8 points per game through the first four games, ranking seventh in tournament scoring, while she corrals 5.3 rebounds per contest. Mexico went 1-3 over the first four games, qualifying for quarterfinals after host Chile went winless in Group B.
 
Kneepkens Impresses in USA Basketball Debut
One of five players in double digits in the opening game, Kneepkens made her USA basketball debut in style with a 12-point scoring night. She also finished with four boards, two assists and two steals. The six-footer earned a start in game two where she contributed seven points in 16 minutes on the floor.
 
Kneepkens kept her hot hand going against Puerto Rico, scoring 14 points on 5-of-8 shooting; she added three rebounds to her stat line. The guard ignited for a team-high 20 points against Mexico to close out USA's undefeated group stage; she shot 7-for-10 from the floor, including a perfect 3-for-3 from inside the arc. Her five rebounds, two assists and two steals contributed to a well-rounded box score in USA's 104-48 win over Mexico.
 
The Bruin is averaging .621/.579/1.000 shooting splits through four games, totaling 53 points (13.3 PPG) in 18.9 minutes on the floor.
