PALOS VERDES ESTATES, Calif. – The No. 23-ranked UCLA women's golf team claimed its first team title of the season at the Therese Hession Regional Challenge at Palos Verdes Golf Club on Tuesday with a score of -8, 844. The Bruins shot scores of 282-284-278 to finish 11 strokes ahead of runner-up Texas.
The victory marked UCLA's first at the Therese Hession Regional Challenge since February of the 2017-18 season.
UCLA closed the tournament by registering the lowest 18-hole score of the event with a -6, 278 in the final round. The Bruins, who beat a field of six top-25 programs by at least 10 strokes, improved their head-to-head record on the season to 39-13-3.
Sophomore Jenny Lee matched the lowest 54-hole score of her career with a -5, 208. Lee fell short of winning her second individual title of the season, losing to Texas' Farah O'Keefe in a playoff.
True freshman Kacey Ly recorded the Bruins' lowest 18-hole score of the tournament with a -4, 67 on day three, pushing her into fourth place. Ly bogeyed just once in her final round in addition to sinking five birdies. Angela Liu (+2, T-12) and Meghan Royal (+3, T-15) joined Lee and Ly in the top-20.
UCLA returns to action at the Alice and John Wallace Classic on Feb. 14-16 at Monterey Country Club in Palm Desert, Calif.

Sophomore Jenny Lee (-4, 138) rose two spots into first place after shooting a second consecutive 2-under 69. Lee, who started on hole 10, went bogey free with three birdies over her first nine holes. She holds a one-stroke lead on Texas' Farah O'Keefe (-3, 139).
Sophomore Angela Liu (-2, 140) matched Lee with a -2, 69 of her own to climb four spots into third place.
Freshman Kacey Ly (+1, 143) was the Bruins' biggest riser on day two with a 28-spot improvement into T-8th. Ly notched the lowest score of her young career with another -2, 69. She shot -4 without a bogey over her final 10 holes.

She trails Kansas' Kinslea Jones (-4) by two strokes. After starting +3 over her first seven holes of the day, Lee shot -5 over her remaining 11 with a stretch of four consecutive birdies on holes 15 through 18 to close her opening round.
Liu, Royal and Yoo are all tied in seventh with a trio of even-par 71s.
