ROSEMONT, Ill. – Mayu Crossley of the UCLA women's tennis team earned her fourth Big Ten Freshman of the Week award Wednesday, the conference announced. It also represents her second in as many weeks.
Crossley collected singles and doubles wins to help the fifth-ranked Bruins take down No. 8 USC in a 6-1 display (Feb. 27). The result was clinched at 4-0 before the remaining matches were played out.
Crossley was first off in singles play, beating Immi Haddad 6-2, 6-4 on Court 2. Crossley possesses a team-best 7-1 record in dual singles play and has won five consecutive matches.
The Tokyo native also teamed with fellow freshman Kayla Chung to beat Haddad/Emma Charney 6-2 to get doubles officially underway on Court 3. Crossley/Chung is 4-2.
Crossley and senior Anne-Christine Lutkemeyer earned a repeat sweep of the Big Ten's Freshman and Player of the Week honors Wednesday. Crossley swept the Big Ten Player and Freshmen of the Week awards Feb. 4 and also picked up the first-year honor Nov. 12, 2025. No other program has more than two Freshman of the Week awards in 2025-26.
