The UCLA track & field team had a number of notable performances over the weekend as the squad split for the Battle on the Bayou hosted by LSU and the Stanford Invite hosted by the Cardinal.

The Bruins totaled five top-three finishes in Baton Rouge, highlighted by an event win from Valentina Fakrogha in the women's high jump. In Stanford, Olivia Foody secured a school record in the women's 10k while Kaho Cichon and Kaitlyn Arciaga each notched section wins in their respective events.

Fakrogha secured the win with a max clearance of 1.88m (6-2.75), a mark which gave her the meet record as well as the No. 1 rank in the NCAA to date this season. The PB also moved her into a tie for No. 2 on UCLA's all-time top-10 list. Fakrogha beat out the field by a sizable margin, as she was the only entrant to clear 1.80m, which she did on her first attempt. It took her just two tries to hit the 1.88m mark.

Elsewhere at the Battle on the Bayou, newcomer Xavier Hastenrath finished runner-up in the men's shot put with a mark of 19.38m (63-7). UCLA also received bronze-medal efforts from Gabriel Clement II in the men's 400m, Olivia Griffin in the women's 400m hurdles, and Paige Sommers in the women's pole vault.

Sommers was the first Bruin on the weekend to medal, as on Friday she reached a height of 4.30m (14-1.25) in the PV to finish third. Teammate Paige Echsner also had a strong outing in that event, recording an outdoor PR at 4.15m (13-7.25).

Olivia Griffin followed up shortly thereafter with a PB in the 400mH (58.70) to secure a third-place result of her own.

Other notable Friday results from LSU came via Jake Stafford, who recorded a PB in the hammer throw (62.55m / 205-2) and Cade Sommers, who registered an outdoor PB in the pole vault (5.15m / 16-10.75).

The bulk of UCLA's action at the Stanford Invite came on Friday night.

Foody became the Bruins' standout after a late-night performance in the women's 10k, as she ran a time of 33:20.31 to finish runner-up in her section and set the new UCLA school record. She overtook the former top time of 33:57.2, which was set by Michele Bush during the 1982 season.

Cichon was a standout for the Bruins during early action in the Bay Area, running a PB of 4:24.17 to win her section in the women's 1500m. Later on, Evie Marheineke notched the No. 7 time in program history for the 3000m steeplechase at 10:22.93.

Moving on to Saturday, Clement – who was making a return to his hometown of Louisiana – notched a PB in the 400m at 45.24 to take bronze in that event.

Up in Stanford, Arciaga closed out the weekend for UCLA with a PB and a section win in the women's 800m at 2:05.38.

Next up, UCLA returns to Westwood on Saturday, April 11 for the Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner-Kersee Invitational. The event will be the Bruins' final home meet of the year.
