Gulf Shores, Ala. - No. 3 seed UCLA knocked off No. 14 seed Tulane 3-0 in the first round of NCAA Tournament play. The Bruins won on courts 5, 1 and 2 in under 45 minutes. The sweep was UCLA's 19th all-time sweep in NCAA Tournament play, tied with USC for most in history.
 
The Bruins (31-6) captured the first set on four of the five courts against the Green Wave (26-14) and earned the first point on court 5, a dominating 21-12, 21-13 win by senior Kenzie Brower and freshman Mallory LaBreche. The victory was Brower's seventh career NCAA win and LaBreche's first.
Top pair Maggie Boyd and Sally Perez soon followed suit with a 21-16, 21-14 win that kept both players unbeaten in NCAA play - Boyd at 11-0 and Perez at 4-0. Kaley Mathews and Ensley Alden provided the clinching point on court 2 with a 21-10, 21-16 victory.
UCLA will face Cal Poly in the second round on Saturday, May 2 at 12pm CT/10am PT. The Bruins are 3-0 against the Mustangs this season.
