SAMMAMISH, Wash. – The UCLA men’s golf team finished in eighth place out of 12 teams at the two-day Sahalee Players Championship on Sunday afternoon.
The Bruins finished the tournament 33-over 897 across three rounds, shooting 11-over 299 on Sunday. UCLA carded 13-over 301 in the opening round and 9-over 297 in Saturday’s second round.
Bruins’ senior Alex Papayoanou finished the weekend as the team’s best individual competitor (T-11th), shooting 5-over 221 across three rounds (73-72-76). Papayoanou and freshman Matthew Hull registered the best round scores of any Bruin, with a 72 (even par) in Saturday’s second round. Hull shot a 72 (even par) in Sunday’s final round.
Hull finished his first collegiate tournament in a tie for 20th place, shooting 8-over 224 (77-75-72).
UCLA’s other three competitors in the team scoring included sophomores Josh Kim (11-over 227) and Tyler Loree (13-over 229) and junior Baylor Larrabee (17-over 233).
Hull had the best final-day score of any Bruin (even par, 72), while Kim finished the final round 2-over 74.
Oklahoma State (4-under 860) won the Sahalee Players Championship with a 28-stroke lead against second-place Florida (24-over 888).
From the fifth-place through eighth-place finishes, four teams were separated by just two strokes – Duke (+31), North Carolina (+32), Arizona State (+32) and UCLA (+33).
Papayoanou recorded his third top-15 finish in the past two seasons. As a sophomore in 2025-26, he finished T-7th at The Prestige Invitational (Feb. 2026) and T-11th at last season’s Sahalee Players Championship (Sept. 2025).
UCLA will return to action at the Ben Hogan Collegiate Invite at Colonial Country Club in Forth Worth, Texas, on Monday, Sept. 28 and Tuesday, Sept. 29. That will mark the second of UCLA’s five fall golf tournaments.
Saturday’s Opening Two Rounds – Recap
The Bruins opened their fall season on Saturday, shooting 22-over 598 through the tournament’s opening two rounds.
UCLA finished 13-over par (301) in the first round on Saturday morning and improved upon its cumulative score in the second round. The Bruins shot 9-over par (297) in the second round.
Headed into this Sunday’s final round at Sahalee Country Club, the Bruins were in seventh place out of 12 teams.
Oklahoma State (even par, 576) moved into the final day of action atop the team leaderboard, 11 strokes ahead of second place Illinois (11-over, 587). Florida, Duke and North Carolina rounded out the top five teams through the first two rounds.
UCLA senior Alex Papayoanou had the strongest performance for the Bruins on Saturday. He shot 1-over 73 in the opening round and even par (72) in the second round, compiling a two-round score of 1-over 143 (tied for seventh place).
Sophomore Tyler Loree finished the day 5-over 149, with round scores of 73 and 76.
The Bruins’ other three competitors in the team scoring included freshman Matthew Hull (8-over 152), sophomore Josh Kim (9-over 153) and junior Baylor Larrabee (12-over 156).
UCLA sophomore Lucas Rizo-Patron shot 9-over 153, competing as an individual.
Sunday’s third round will begin just after 7:20 a.m., with the Bruins set to open at approximately 7:30 a.m.
