Chiles Selected UCLA Student-Athlete of the Week Presented by La Victoria

LOS ANGELES โ Senior Jordan Chiles of UCLA Gymnastics has been selected the Student-Athlete of the Week presented by La Victoria for athletic competitions held between Jan. 13-19.

Chiles scored her first career perfect 10 on vault and won three events and the all-around in the Bruins' dual meet win over Nebraska. Chiles started her day with a perfect mark on her Yurchenko double full, her 12th career 10 and her first on vault. She nearly scored another 10 on balance beam but fell just shy with her second 9.975 in three meets. Chiles also tied for first place on uneven bars with a 9.900. She finished with an all-around score of 39.675, putting her season average at a national-best 39.658.

With her four individual titles on Saturday, Chiles already has 10 this season after just three meets. She has scored 9.900 or higher on 10 of 12 routines this year and remains ranked No. 1 in the nation in the all-around and moves up to No. 2 on vault with an average of 9.933. She is also ranked in the Top 15 on bars (No. 11, 9.908 average) and beam (No. 7, 9.933 average). With 10s now on vault, bars and floor, Chiles just needs a 10 on balance beam to earn the elusive Gym Slam.
