Men's Golf Concludes Tournament at Southern Highlands Collegiate

LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The UCLA men's golf team closed the three-day Southern Highlands Collegiate in a three-way tie for 12th place out of 15 teams. The Bruins shot 22-over 886 in the tournament, closing with a third-round score of 13-over 298 on Tuesday.
The Bruins finished eight strokes shy of 10th place Pepperdine and five strokes behind 11th place Georgia, closing the tournament in a tie with South Carolina and San Diego State. Virginia won the tournament title by one stroke, shooting 15-under 849. The Cavaliers edged Auburn (second place) by one stroke, as Auburn carded 14-under 850.
Freshman Tyler Loree (T-18th) shot 1-over 217 through the three-day tournament. He shot 3-over 75 on the final day, after having carded scores of 1-under 71 on Sunday and Monday.
Sophomore Baylor Larrabee (T-35th) finished the tournament at 4-over 220. He concluded the third and final round at even par (72).
Freshman Josh Kim shot 8-over 224, sophomore Logan Kim registered a score of 12-over 228 and senior Kyle An finished 14-over 230.
The Bruins will return to action next week, competing in San Francisco at The Desimone Invitational, hosted at Lake Merced Golf Club. The tournament will run from March 9-10.
DAY TWO RECAP
Men's Golf Tied for 11th Place After Two Days in Vegas
The Bruins were tied for 11th place with New Mexico at the conclusion of the second round of the Southern Highlands Collegiate on Monday at Southern Highlands Golf Club.
Virginia owned a two-stroke lead, in first place through two rounds, in the 15-team field. Virginia was followed by second-place Auburn and third-place Washington.
Bruins' freshman Tyler Loree was UCLA's top individual competitor for the second consecutive day. Loree shot 1-under 71 in the second round, totaling five birdies and four bogeys. He is tied for 13th place entering Tuesday's third and final round.
Sophomore Baylor Larrabee shot 1-over 72, while sophomore Logan Kim finished the day at 3-over 75. Senior Kyle An carded 5-over 77, while freshman Josh Kim finished the afternoon at 6-over 78.
Glancing at the team leaderboard after the tournament's first two rounds, UCLA sits three strokes behind a pair of teams (San Diego State and Pepperdine, tied for ninth place). Oklahoma and Texas A&M will enter the final round five strokes ahead of UCLA (tied for seventh place).

The Bruins shot 4-over 292 through the first round on Sunday. UCLA is one of 10 teams in the middle of the pack, separated by six strokes. The Bruins, along with UNLV and Georgia, closed the opening day in a tie for ninth place. Texas (eight place) shot 2-over 290, while Pepperdine (sixth place) and Texas A&M (sixth place) were in a tie, having carded even par (288).
Virginia leads the group of 15 teams with a first-round score of 11-under 277, followed by second-place Auburn (6-under 282).
Bruins' freshman Tyler Loree led the five UCLA golfers on Sunday, carding 1-under 71. He was tied for 20th place through 18 holes. Loree finished the afternoon with one eagle, three birdies, two bogeys and one double bogey. He had an eagle on the par-4 15th hole.
UCLA senior Kyle An and freshman Josh Kim (T-32) both shot 1-over 73. Sophomores Logan Kim and Baylor Larrabee (T-53) finished the day 3-over 75.
An also had an eagle on Sunday on the par-3 ninth hole. An finished the day with two birdies (in addition to the one eagle) and five bogeys.
