Cholowsky Homers Twice in No. 1 UCLA's 7-3 Win Over Cal State Fullerton
April 07, 2026 | Baseball
FULLERTON, Calif. โ Junior shortstop Roch Cholowsky homered twice to lead No.ย 1 UCLA to a 7-3 win over Cal State Fullerton on Tuesday night at Goodwin Field.
ย
The Bruins (30-2, 15-0 Big Ten) became the first Division I team to reach 30 wins this season while extending their program-record winning streak to 24 games.
ย
Cholowsky, celebrating his 21st birthday, powered the offense with a 3-for-5 night that included two home runs, three RBIs, and two runs scored. He now shares the team lead in home runs with Will Gasparino at 13.
ย
ย Trey Gudoy added three hits of his own, while Dean West chipped in a pair. Mulivai Levu, Roman Martin, Payton Brennan, Aiden Aguayo, and Kasen Khansarinia each recorded a hit as UCLA's lineup produced 13 total knocks.
ย
UCLA's bullpen was dominant, blanking the Titans over the final six innings. The relief corps allowed just four hits and struck out 10 during that stretch. Jake Swenson earned his first Division I win, striking out three over 1.1 scoreless innings, while CJ Bott, Cal Randall, Jack O'Connor, and Justin Lee each contributed a shutout frame to close out the victory.
ย
UCLA jumped in front in the bottom of the first as Cholowsky crushed a no-doubt homer over the left-field wall for a solo shot, marking his second straight game with a long ball.
ย
The Bruins doubled their lead in the top of the second after Gudoy opened the inning with a base hit and later came around to score on a two-out throwing error.
ย
Cal State Fullerton responded in the third, pushing across three runs on four hits to take the lead.
ย
UCLA answered with a three-run fourth to restore its two-run cushion. Brennan and Gudoy opened the inning with back-to-back singles, and Khansarinia followed with a base hit to right to drive in the first run. With two outs, West delivered the big swing, ripping a double into the right-center gap to plate two more and cap the three-run frame.
ย
Cholowsky put the game out of reach in the bottom of the eighth, unloading on his second homer of the night, a towering two-run shot to center, to stretch UCLA's lead to four.
ย
Lee sealed it in the ninth, striking out two in a scoreless frame to close out the win.
ย
The Bruins now head east for a three-game series at Rutgers, beginning Friday, April 10 at 3 p.m. PT.
