Women's T & F in Final Tuneup Before USC Dual

Jeanette Bolden's UCLA women's track & field team this weekend (April 27-28) will travel to San Diego to compete in the UC San Diego Invitational. It will be the Bruins final competition before the UCLA/USC annual dual meet, held Saturday, May 4 at UCLA's Drake Stadium.
Last Weekend at Mt. SAC Relays
Last weekend (April 20-21), selected members of the Bruin women track
& field team competed at the Mt. SAC Relays, held in Walnut.
Bruin Women at Mt. SAC
Freshman Monique Henderson and seniors, Darnesha Griffith and Tracy
O'Hara, led the Bruin women at the Mt. SAC Relays.
Henderson, from Morse HS in San Diego, on Sunday competed in two events. In her University Open 400m, Henderson placed second (52.78, season-best, NCAA provisional) and in the Invitational 4 X 400m relay, she ran the anchor (51.6) on UCLA's winning relay (3:34.13, season-best, NCAA provisional). Henderson is UCLA's nominee for the Pac-10 Women's Track Athlete of the Week honor.
Griffith, from Santa Margarita and Trabuco Hills HS, on Sunday in the Invitational high jump placed fourth, tying her personal-best 6-0 3/4. Griffith in March won the high jump at the 2002 NCAA Indoor meet. Griffith is the Bruins' nominee for the Pac-10 Women's Field Athlete of the Week honor.
O'Hara, from San Diego and Rancho Bernardo HS, in Sunday's Invitational pole vault, placed second, tying her season-best of 14-1 1/4 (NCAA automatic). O'Hara is the collegiate outdoor record holder (14-7 1/4).
Also performing well for the Bruin women at Mt. SAC were ' junior Tiffany Burgess in Sunday's 800m Invitational (6th, 2:06.50), senior Bunmi Ogunleye in Sunday's long jump Invitational (5th, 20-0 1/2w) and sophomore Cari Soong, who on Sunday won the Open hammer throw competition (202-7).
Long Beach Invitational
Selected members of the Bruin women's track & field squad also
competed Saturday (April 20) at the Long Beach State Invitational.
The Bruin women were paced by a one-two-three sweep of 100m heat No. 5 (wind, +2.80, 1. freshman T'Carra Penick, 12.43w, season wind-aided best, 2. junior Ola Adenisi, 12.55w, 3. junior Kristen Tucker, 12.68w, season wind-aided best), sophomore Sani Roseby, winning (15.06w) her 110m hurdle heat, sophomore Nicole Gaskins winning (60.89) her 400m hurdle heat, freshman Manyuan Reffell finishing second (1:05.6, season-best) in her 400m hurdle heat and freshman Caroline Sommers placing third (5-7, season-best) in the high jump.
