Ryann Krais stands in first place on day one of the heptathlon competition at the Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner Kersee Invitational. Krais leads after four events with a score of 3046 points.
She started the day off with the third-fastest 100m hurdles time, running 14.51 for 907 points. The sophomore then tied for second in the high jump with a clearance of 5-3.75 (759 points). In the shot put, Krais was fourth overall with a toss of 35-3.75 for 579 points. She ended the day with the fourth-fastest 200m time, a season-best run of 25.96 (801 points).
Krais will conclude competition on Friday with the final three events of the heptathlon - the long jump, javelin and 800m.
The meet also contiues on Friday with open events during the day and a distance carnival in the evening.
