Junior outside hitter Kristee Porter (Tyler, TX/John Tyler HS) of the UCLA Women's Volleyball Team was selected as the first UCLABruins.com Student-Athlete of the Week of the 2000-2001 school year for the week of Aug. 21-27.
Porter was named to the All-Tournament Team at the State Farm Women?s Volleyball Classic presented by NACWAA, after compiling an impressive statistical weekend.
In the season opener against second-ranked Penn State, Porter recorded her ninth career 30-kill match, when her 30th and final kill of the fifth game gave top-ranked UCLA the 15-12 fifth game win. Porter added 26 more kills in Saturday?s match against Colorado State for a per-game average of 5.60 kills per game. Porter also checked in with five blocks and 29 digs during the prestigious tournament.
