In the past week, 20 COVID-19 PCR tests and one antigen test were administered to the UCLA Athletics population, in the sport of baseball, with no positives.
Since UCLA Athletics began testing on June 22, 2020, a total of 39,970 tests were administered, with a cumulative total of 93 positives among student-athletes, coaches and staff (0.23%).
This is the final week of competition for UCLA Athletics and the final testing report for the year.

The one antigen positive (Rowing) that was pending PCR confirmation last week was confirmed through testing outside of athletics and is not reflected in our total number of positives.

In the past week, 599 COVID-19 PCR and 718 Antigen tests were administered to the UCLA Athletics population with three positive PCR results (1 Men’s Track & Field and 2 Women’s Soccer). One additional individual received a positive antigen test (Rowing) and is pending PCR confirmation. The three antigen positives that were pending PCR confirmation last week were positive (1 Women’s Track & Field and 2 Men’s Water Polo) through testing outside of athletics and are not reflected in our total number of positives. Since UCLA Athletics began testing on June 22, 2020, a total of 18,017 tests have been administered, with a cumulative total of 48 positives among student-athletes, coaches and staff (0.26%).

In the past week, 659 COVID-19 PCR and 605 Antigen tests were administered to the UCLA Athletics population with nine positive PCR results (2 Rowing, 2 Men’s Track & Field, 1 Men’s Soccer, 1 Women’s Soccer, 1 Softball, 1 Men’s Tennis and 1 Men’s Water Polo). Seven additional individuals received positive antigen tests (2 Rowing, 3 Men’s Water Polo, 1 Men’s Tennis and 1 Women’s Track & Field). Four of these seven antigen tests were confirmed as positive with PCR testing outside of athletics testing and are not reflected in our total number of positives, while the other three are pending PCR confirmation. All confirmed positive PCR tests were administered during the return to campus protocols, and none of those positives have participated in any athletic activities since returning to campus. Since UCLA Athletics began testing on June 22, 2020, a total of 16,700 tests have been administered, with a cumulative total of 45 positives among student-athletes, coaches and staff (0.27%).

These positives were part of the return to campus testing for these teams. In addition, a positive Antigen result reported last week was confirmed positive with follow-up PCR testing, within the football program. In the past week, 451 COVID-19 PCR and 717 Antigen tests were administered to the UCLA Athletics population with one Antigen positive result that was confirmed with a PCR positive result for an individual (counted as one total) within the men’s volleyball program, as well as one positive PCR result for a member of the Athletics support staff. Since UCLA Athletics began testing on June 22, 2020, a total of 10,828 tests have been administered, with a cumulative total of 24 positives among student-athletes, coaches and staff (0.22%). A positive Antigen result reported last week was verified as a false positive with follow-up PCR testing and has been excluded from these totals.
In addition, we have learned that four other individuals, two within the beach volleyball program, and one each within the men’s volleyball and women’s volleyball programs, tested positive this week via PCR tests that were administered outside of the UCLA Athletics testing program. While those numbers are not included in the totals above, the individuals are following the protocol outlined below.

The positive Antigen result reported last week was verified as a false positive with follow-up PCR testing and has been excluded from these totals.
In addition, we have received reports that two individuals (one within the rowing program and one member of the Athletics support staff) tested positive this week via PCR tests that were administered outside of the UCLA Athletics testing program. As UCLA Athletics continues to navigate the rapidly-changing COVID-19 landscape, we are constantly evaluating our practices, in collaboration with our campus partners. With the announcement of some competitions set to begin in November and as we look to advance into the later stages of our Return to Training Plan, we will begin publicly reporting COVID-19 testing numbers and positive results within the UCLA Athletics population (student-athletes, coaches and staff), effective immediately. Results will be shared weekly, with numbers broken down by team. In an effort to protect the privacy of our constituents, any team with a roster of 10 or fewer will be included in a group identified as “other”.
Since UCLA Athletics began testing on June 22, 2020, a total of 1,210 COVID-19 PCR tests have been administered, with 15 positives among student-athletes, coaches and staff (1.2%). In the past week, 221 tests were administered, with one (1) positive within the football program. Anyone who tests positive immediately enters isolation for 10 days from the date of the test.
