UCLA Cross Country added Delaney Rasmussen as an Assistant Coach, UCLA Director of Track & Field/Cross Country Avery Anderson announced on Aug. 16, 2023.

โI want to thank Coach Anderson for the opportunity to join his staff at UCLA,โ said Rasmussen. โI am thrilled to start working with our student-athletes and coaching staff to carry on the longstanding Bruin tradition.โ

Prior to arriving in Westwood, Rasmussen served as the Associate Head Coach for Cross Country and Assistant Track and Field Coach at Sacramento State University. She joined the Hornets in July 2022. Rasmussen was the sole coach for both menโs and womenโs distance programs.

As a coach, Rasmussen has led student-athletes to conference podium finishes at the BIG Sky Womenโs Indoor Track & Field Championships in the 800m and 4x400m relay competitions. In just one year at Sac State, Rasmussen helped 10 of her womenโs runners record marks on the programโs all-time top 10 lists for the indoor and outdoor seasons. Four of her menโs student-athletes also cracked the all-time top 10 for the Hornets.

A native of Folsom, Calif., Rasmussen went on to compete at the NCAA Division I level both in cross country and track and field at Northern Arizona University from 2017 until 2022.

She earned her bachelorโs degree in biomedical science with minors in chemistry and business, graduating in May 2020 after making the deanโs list three times in her undergraduate career. Rasmussen also earned her masterโs of education in human relations and a graduate certificate in ethnic studies from NAU in May 2022.
