2025 First Team Outdoor All-American (400m)

2025
Earned First Team All-America honors after finishing in eighth place in the 400m at the Outdoor NCAA Championships ... Became the first Bruin to earn First Team All-America honors in the 400m since 2006 ... Set a school record in the indoor 400m at the Tiger Paw Invitational, running that race in 45.90 ...ย Notched a PB in the 400m during the semifinal at NCAAs, clocking in at 45.35 to clinch a spot in the final ... Followed up with a 46.17 in the final ... Was the fourth-place finisher in the 400m at NCAA West Regionals, including a time of 45.75 during the first round, to clinch his spot at the NCAA Championships ... Scored at the Big Ten Outdoor Championships after finishing eighth in the 400m final (46.52) ... Also ran in the 4x400 relay at Outdoor Big Tens, helping UCLA to a sixth place finish (3:07.88) ... Was fourth in the 400m (46.59) and runner-up in the 4x400 relay (3:07.69) to help UCLA to a dual meet win over crosstown rival USC on May 4 at Drake Stadium ... Had a double at the Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner-Kersee Invite on April 5, winning both the 200m (personal-best 20.88) and 400m (46.18) ... Scored in both the 400m (46.36, fourth) and 4x400 (3:10.26, sixth) at the Indoor Big Ten Championships ... Posted a time of 21.13 in the 200m at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic, good for No. 8 on UCLA's all-time indoor top-10 list ... Won the 400m (46.72) and was runner-up in the 4x400 (3:11.52) at the Crossroads of America Invitational on Jan. 24 ... Made his season debut on Jan. 17 at the Spokane Sports Showcase, finishing second in the 400m (46.91) ... Selected as a Big Ten Men's Indoor Track & Field Sportsmanship Honoree.

Competed in four events during his debut indoor season (60m, 200m, 300m, 4x400m) โ€ฆ Ran the anchor leg in the menโ€™s 4x400m relay that jumped to sixth on UCLAโ€™s all-time top 10 list (3:07.37) โ€ฆ Did not compete for the Bruins during the outdoor campaign.

High School
Attended Kaplan High School, running track and playing soccer for three years while also competing on the football team for two years ... Individual honors included 2022 state runner-up in the 400m, 2022 Nike All-American, 2022 Junior Olympic runner-up in the 4x400m in the 17-18 age division (3:10.44), 2023 400m indoor state runner-up โ€ฆ Won the 100m, 200m and 400m races at the 2023 state championship meet โ€ฆ Earned a bronze medal in the 400m (47.01) at the 2023 AAU Junior Olympics and placed fourth in the 4x100.

Born in Lafayette, La., to parents Gabriel and Rakaela โ€ฆ Father ran track for the University of Louisiana at Lafayette โ€ฆ Has one older brother, Darien, and two younger brothers, Kodi and Kaleb โ€ฆ ย Interests include video games and a love for reading, as well as going out and enjoying new things โ€ฆ Also loves fishing, saying it is โ€œso peacefulโ€ โ€ฆ Describes his greatest pre-UCLA athletic thrill as the state meet where he won all major sprint eventsย โ€ฆ Lists Erin Brown as the athlete he most admires โ€ฆ Decided to attend UCLA because โ€œschooling has always been a major thing instilled in my family and posed with the opportunity to attend the number one public school in the nation was an opportunity I couldnโ€™t pass up. Not only that, but the weather is absolutely amazing compared to the super-hot dry temperature of Louisianaโ€ โ€ฆ Plans to major in pre-medicine.
