Qualified for the NCAA Championships in the hammer throw ... Finished 17thย at NCAAs, just missing out on All-America honors ... Had a top mark of 64.25m (210-9) at NCAAs ... Reached NCAAs after coming in sixth at the NCAA West Preliminaries, where he logged a top mark of 64.65m (212-1) ... Pac-12 All-Academic Team honorable mention ... Had a standout performance at the USC Dual Meet, notching a collegiate-best and NCAA qualifying mark of 64.92m (213-0) to win the hammer throw while also finishing third in the discus at 47.56m (156-0) and fourth in the shot put with a collegiate-best 12.87m (42-2.75) ... Competed in both the discus and hammer at the Pac-12 Championships, finishing third in the hammer at 63.77m (209-3) and 12th in the discus with a collegiate-best mark of 49.22m (161-6) ... 2017
Transferred to UCLA from Saddleback College in Spring 2017 and quickly made an impact โฆ NCAA West Prelims qualifier in the hammer throw โฆ Doubled in the discus (152-07) and hammer (193-0) at the Pac-12 Championships, finishing 13th and sixth in the events, respectively โฆ Won the hammer throw competition against USC with a lifetime-best launch of 201-02 โฆ Also posted a personal best in the discus against the Trojans, going 160-10 for fifth place.

2015 (Saddleback College)
Recorded the sixth-best throw of the year in the hammer and the second-best throw of any freshman in the state with a throw of 181-feet at the Mt. SAC Relays.

Played football and basketball at Dana Hills HS before beginning his track & field career as a senior, throwing the discus.
Personal
Son of Steve and Kirsten Stafford โฆ Both of his parents graduated from UC Berkeley, and his father was a four-year varsity letterman on Calโs football team from 1988-1992 โฆ Has three younger siblings, John, who is a junior at UC Berkeley, and aspiring hammer throwers Jillian and Jake โฆ His grandfather was a pitcher for the Philadelphia Phillies, and his uncle was a pitcher at Cal in the mid-1980s before playing for the San Diego Padres โฆ Political science major with an emphasis on international relations.
