UCLA Athletic Hall of Famer Kelly Reeves begins her fourth season as an assistant beach volleyball coach at her alma mater.
Reeves had a banner year in 2026, helping lead UCLA to its third NCAA Championship in May and becoming the first UCLA Beach Volleyball player inducted into the UCLA Athletic Hall of Fame in October. Reeves and her mother Jeanne (Beauprey) Reeves, who preceded her in the Hall of Fame in 2000, became the first-ever daughter-mother tandem in the UCLA Athletic Hall of Fame.
Reeves returned to UCLA in July of 2023 after developing a coaching career at all levels of the sport, including juniors, collegiate, USAV development, and amateurs. In 2022, Reeves helped the LMU Lions finish fourth at the NCAA Beach Volleyball Championship, the best finish in the program’s history at the time. That same year, Reeves was a recipient of the Thirty Under 30 Beach coaches award from the AVCA.
Her coaching career began with a two-year stint with WAVE Volleyball (2015-17) as an assistant coach. From there, Reeves joined the University of San Diego as a volunteer assistant coach for the Torero’s Indoor Volleyball Team (2016). Following this, she served as a private indoor coach for the VIBE Volleyball Lab from 2017-20 in Los Angeles. Reeves also spent two months as a Military Sports Coach for Pro Sports MVP based in Colorado Springs, Colo., in 2021 and served as an assistant coach for three months in 2022 with the USA Beach National Training Development Program. She has also spent six years as the head coach at Elite Beach in Los Angeles.
Raised in San Diego, Calif., Reeves comes from a UCLA Volleyball family where her mother, Jeanne Beauprey (inducted into UCLA Athletics Hall of Fame in 2000), competed and coached for the program, along with her two brothers, Connor and Jake. During her time at UCLA, Reeves helped the UCLA Indoor Team to a National Championship in 2011 and competed in the inaugural season with the UCLA Beach Program in 2013. She was named the program’s first All-American in 2013.
Prior to her beach debut, Reeves played one year of professional indoor volleyball in Switzerland and trained with the USA Indoor National Team from 2014-15. She then made her debut on the AVP in 2016, finishing fifth in her first Main Draw. She was later named Rookie of the Year in 2016. Her highest finish on the AVP tour was third place, most memorably in the 2019 Manhattan Beach Open. She also competed on the NORCECA Tour and FIVB World Tour, with her highest FIVB finish of second place in Cambodia.
