Chelsea Tudela, a member of UCLAโ€™s 2013 NCAA Womenโ€™s Soccer Championship team, returned to UCLA as a volunteer assistant coach for the Bruins in 2022 and helped guide the Bruins to its second national title.

The Bruins in 2022 tied a school record for single-season victories with 22, and their 13-0 start to the season set a new program record. Tudela and the rest of the Bruin staff earned National and Pacific Region Staff of the Year honors by the United Soccer Coaches.

The former Chelsea Braun played at UCLA from 2010-13 and saw action in over 50 games in her career. She helped the Bruins capture the 2013 Pac-12 and NCAA titles, and earned Pac-12 All-Academic honors in 2012. She graduated in 2014 with a degree in Communication Studies and earned the Athletic Directorโ€™s Academic Excellence Award for making the Directorโ€™s Honor Roll every quarter she was at UCLA.

Tudela is the Youth Academy Director, coach and content creator at Tudela Futbol Club Los Angeles, an all-girls youth soccer club in the heart of Los Angeles that provides opportunities and high-level training and experience to girls of all socio-economic situations. She also runs a fully-subsidized training program for girls 5-8 years old, called โ€œToday U Dream Itโ€ (TUDI).

โ€œI am so happy to welcome Chelsea back to Westwood,โ€ said UCLA head coach Margueritte Aozasa. โ€œShe brings an incredible ability to connect with our student-athletes through her experience here as part of a national championship team. Also, Chelsea is a pioneer in player development and will give our staff another element in supporting our playersโ€™ growth.โ€

โ€œKnowing the impact the program had on me as a player, Iโ€™m hungry to dive in with this incredible coaching staff to create something truly special,โ€ Tudela said. โ€œItโ€™s been surreal to join the Bruin family again, and I canโ€™t wait to get started. I canโ€™t stop smiling!โ€
