LOS ANGELES (AP) - UCLA had its running game going and the eighth-ranked Bruins had no problem routing San Diego State.
Maylana Martin had 22 points and 19 rebounds Thursday night in the 82-61 victory.
"We are a better team when we run offensively and when we press and trap on defense," said UCLA coach Kathy Oliver, who won her 100th career game. "Against Louisiana Tech and Tennessee, we didn't do as well."
Marie Philman added 16 points and Nicole Kaczmarski had 14 for the Bruins (3-3).
"This was a good game for the team to regroup," Martin said. "When you play a better team you focus on them, whereas tonight we were able to dictate the tempo."
Atim Otii led San Diego State with 22 points. Mary Apiafi had 15 points and Jamey Cox added 10 for the Aztecs (1-6).
San Diego was hampered by injuries and used only eight players. UCLA's reserves outscored the San Diego State bench 13-6.
