EUGENE, Ore. - So much for freshman jitters.
Shaquala Williams scored a career-high 31 points, including six 3-pointers, as Oregon beat No. 7 UCLA 106-79 Thursday night.
Williams was 11-of-15 from the field, handed out seven assists and grabbed four rebounds.
"I was unconscious," she said. "I'm not a great shooter, I'll be the first to admit that. But it was just unreal."
Oregon (17-4, 8-2 Pac-10) ended UCLA's 10-game winning streak by shooting 57 percent from the field and holding the conference's most prolific offense to just 32 percent.
The Bruins (17-5, 9-1) entered the game with an 87-point average, fourth-best in the nation, and a conference-best 49.7 percent shooting average.
"I was really excited when we walked in tonight," said Oregon head coach Jody Runge. "They were really excited to play. They were really confident. They knew we had to do a great job defensively and I thought we did all those things. And I never would have imagined that we shot that well."
The Ducks took a 45-34 halftime lead, thanks largely to a pair of bookend runs. Oregon started the game by outscoring UCLA 15-7 and ended the half on a 11-6 run after UCLA pulled within 34-28.
Midway through the second half, Williams scored eight straight points to help Oregon take a 68-50 lead and the Ducks went on to avenge a four-point loss at UCLA on Jan. 10. Since that game, the Bruins had been beating their opponents by an average of 28 points.
"I remember how it felt to lose down there and I didn't want to feel that way again," Williams said. "The last meeting was a huge factor. We wanted to beat UCLA more than anybody because they walk around like no one can touch them."
Angelina Wolvert scored 15 points for Oregon, while Jenny Mowe had 12 points, seven rebounds and seven blocks.
Maylana Martin and LaCresha Flannigan each scored 15 for UCLA. Erica Gomez and Janae Hubbard added 14 apiece.
