No. 4 Women's Water Polo Records 8-5 Victory Over No. 7 Hawai'i

LOS ANGELES - Three-time defending national champion UCLA swept No. 7 Hawai'i this weekend, defeating the Rainbow Wahine 8-5 in today's conference matchup.

The Bruins were led in scoring by junior Carly Herrera (San Diego) and freshman Jenny Lamb (Huntington Beach), each with two goals. A total of six players netted points for UCLA. Goalkeeper Erin Golaboski (Severna Park, MD), who tallied four saves in the third quarter, grabbed a total of eight saves for the Bruins.

The Rainbow Wahine, held to only one goal in the first three quarters, scored two goals in the final period. Sophomore Robin Jones led the Rainbow Wahine with two goals. Goalie Christa Tackaberry had seven saves.

Today's matchup, the third between Hawai'i and UCLA this season, was a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) game. In their first meeting at the UC San Diego Tournament on Feb. 13, the Bruins handed Hawai'i a 7-4 defeat. On Friday, March 5, the Bruins defeated the Rainbow Wahine 10-4 in a non-conference game. Today's win increases UCLA's record to 8-6 overall and 2-2 in MPSF play. Hawai'i falls to 12-7 overall and 2-2 in MPSF action.

UCLA will be in action again on Tues., March 16, at 3 p.m. when they host the University of Massachusetts. The game will be held at the Men's Gym Pool.
