Men's Soccer Defeats Westmont 2-0 in Exhibition

WESTWOOD, Calif. - The UCLA men's soccer team, ranked pre-season No. 3 by Soccer America and SoccerTimes, defeated NAIA pre-season No. 6 Westmont College 2-0 in an exhibition game at UCLA's North Athletic Field.
The Bruins got two quick strikes just before the end of the half. At 42:59, a through pass from Shaun Tsakiris found Martin Bruno all alone. Bruno easily tapped it into the net past Westmont goalkeeper Adam Throop. Just barely a minute later, at 44:04, Bruno sent a perfectly placed cross to Shea Travis, who also beat Throop for the game's second goal.
The two goals were all the Bruins needed. UCLA allowed just one shot on goal in the second half and just three total, while recording 13 of its own.
UCLA will play one more exhibition game, Sunday, Aug. 29 at the University of Portland, before embarking on its 1999 season Friday, Sept. 3 vs. Denver at Cal State Fullerton's FILA Classic.
