December 18, 2025 | Men's Soccer

LOS ANGELES – UCLA men's soccer had three student-athletes taken in the second round of the 2026 MLS SuperDraft on Thursday. Junior defender Tre Wright was selected 33rd overall to Real Salt Lake, graduate student Schinieder Mimy went 38th overall to the New England Revolution, and senior midfielder Tarun Karumanchi was drafted 49th overall to the Columbus Crew.

The trio becomes UCLA's 85th, 86th, and 87th MLS draft picks all-time, the most of any NCAA program. The Bruins have now had nine draft picks under seventh-year head coach Ryan Jorden.

Wright has appeared in 36 games for the Bruins, making 19 starts. This past season he played in a career-high 19 matches as a junior, starting in 18 of those contests, primarily at centerback. Wright received the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award for his work on and off the field throughout the 2025 season and earned All-Big Ten Academic honors. He helped the Bruins earn their first Big Ten Championship Title by leading the backline to shutouts over No. 1 in the nation Maryland in the Big Ten semifinal before recording another shutout against Michigan in the final. For his Bruin career Wright has helped the Bruins earn conference titles in both the Big Ten in 2025, and the PAC 12 in 2023.

Mimy transferred to UCLA for his graduate student year and immediately made an impact. He appeared in 14 games, starting in 11 of those contests in his lone season as a Bruin. Played primarily at left back throughout the season and scored his lone goal of the year goal at Omaha, which contributed to UCLA's 5-1 win. The North Miami, Florida native totaled four assists on the year, against Indiana, Penn St., Omaha, and Washington. He played a total of 1,040 minutes, eighth highest on the team, played at least 70 minutes nine times, and played 90 minutes or more six times. Mimy helped the Bruins earn their first Big Ten Tournament title by leading the backline to shutouts over No. 1 in the nation Maryland in the Big Ten semifinal before recording another shutout against Michigan in the final.

Over his four years as a Bruin, Karumanchi made 68 appearances, starting 61 times, made four appearances in NCAA Tournament, won the Pac 12 regular season title in 2023, and the Big Ten Tournament title in 2025. In his senior season, Karumanchi appeared in and started all 19 matches as a senior, wore the captains' armband all season, and played primarily as a holding midfielder. He recorded the most minutes on the team with 1,699 minutes played, and played the full 90 minutes in 16 games. The senior from San Ramon, California, recorded an assist against Michigan in the Big Ten Tournament final and earned All-Big Ten Academic Honors. He helped the Bruins earn their first Big Ten Tournament title by leading the backline to shutouts over No. 1 in the nation Maryland in the Big Ten semifinal before recording another shutout against Michigan in the final.
