Women's Gymnastics Defeats Cal State Fullerton

FULLERTON, Calif. -- UCLA beat Cal State Fullerton in a non-conference women's gymnastics meet Monday night in Titan Gym despite Fullerton setting a school record for team score.
The Bruins scored a 195.925-193.800 victory while sweeping the top three placings on the floor exercise and vault competitions and posting the top four all-around scores, led by Mohini Bhardwaj with a 39.150. Bhardwaj also won the balance beam with a career-high tying 9.925. UCLA's team leader in victories with seven, she has won the all-around in UCLA's last two meets and has scored 39+ in all three meets.
Heidi Moneymaker captured first place on vault (9.85, tied with Onnie Willis), bars (9.875) and floor (9.9, tied with Lena Degteva). Moneymaker scored a 39.0 in the all-around to place third.
Freshman Kristin Parker set a new career-high with a second-place all-around score of 39.05. She also tied her career-high with a 9.8 on beam. Malia Jones also set new career-highs in the all-around (38.875, fourth place), vault (9.75) and bars (9.75).
Also recording career-best scores were Willis on vault, Doni Thompson on beam (9.8, third place) and Fullerton native Valerie Velasco on beam (9.85, second place).
UCLA's team score was the second-highest in the nation this season, behind its 196.3 scored last Friday at Arizona.
