After posting the nation's top two scores of the season last weekend, the UCLA gymnastics team captured the No. 1 ranking in the lastest national poll, released Tuesday evening.
The Bruins' score of 196.3, set Jan. 14 at Arizona, ranks as the top mark this season. Their 195.925, set Jan. 17 at Cal State Fullerton is the second-highest mark. Second-ranked Alabama's highest score is a 195.75. Rounding out the Top 10 are No. 3 Nebraska and Utah, No. 5 Georgia, No. 6 Michigan, No. 7 Minnesota, No. 8 New Hampshire and Arizona State and No. 10 LSU.
UCLA is also the top-ranked team nationally on the floor exercise (high of 49.25) and balance beam (49.15) and ranks second on vault (49.05) and eighth on bars (49.0).
Junior Mohini Bhardwaj earned the No. 1 ranking in the all-around with a season-best 39.45 at Arizona. She also ranks second on bars (9.95) and beam (9.925), fourth on floor (9.9) and fifth on vault (9.875).
Senior Lena Degteva is ranked No. 6 in the all-around (39.35), No. 4 on floor (9.9), No. 8 on bars (9.9), No. 15 on vault (9.825) and No. 23 on beam (9.85). Also ranked in all five events is Heidi Moneymaker, who ranks 20th in the all-around (39.0), fourth on floor (9.9), fifth on beam (9.9), ninth on vault (9.85) and 17th on bars (9.875).
Also in the Top 25 for UCLA are freshman Kristin Parker in the all-around (17th, 39.05), freshman Onnie Willis on vault (ninth, 9.85) and floor (23rd, 9.85) and sophomore Valerie Velasco on beam (23rd, 9.85).
