Bruins Advance to UCSB Tournament Semifinals

Defending NCAA men's volleyball champion UCLA advanced to the semifinals of the UC Santa Barbara/Elephant Bar &Restaurant Collegiate Tournament with first day victories over UC Santa Cruz and California Baptist College.
The third-ranked Bruins defeated UC Santa Cruz 30-20, 30-17, 30-19 in Friday's opener and then beat Cal Baptist 27-30, 30-20, 30-22, 30-23 in the championship quarterfinals.
On Saturday morning the Bruins will meet second-ranked USC in the semifinals with the winner advancing to the 7 p.m. championship match against the winner of the Long Beach State-UC Santa Barbara contest.
The UCSB Tournament employs no official scorekeepers or linesmen until the semifinals or championship matches, so team records and statistics will be kept following Saturday's winner's bracket matches.
