Men's Golfers Finish 11th in Hawaii

The UCLA men's golf team finished in 11th place at the TaylorMade Big Island Classic, hosted by the University of Hawaii-Hilo at the Waikoloa Resort.

The Bruins posted a 54-hole team total of 928, two strokes behind the University of Nevada and three shots ahead of Cal State Bakersfield.

The University of Texas won the event with a team score of 893, followed by Arizona State at 899. Texas Christian University finished third at 900, followed by Oregon at 904 and Oklahoma at 913.

UCLA junior Parker McLachlin finished in a tie for 10th place with a three-round total of 224. Sophomore Travis Johnson tied for 19th place at 227 after posting a final score of 69. Freshmen Roy Moon and John Merrick tied for 74th and 80th place, respectively, and sophomore J.T. Kohut tied for 107th at 247.

Nevada's Sprague Kolp won the event with a 54-hole score of 217 after firing a final round score 69. Matt Jones of Arizona State was second at 218.
