AUSTIN, TX - The top-ranked UCLA softball team improved its record to 19-0 on the season with a 1-0 win over Wisconsin in the championship game of the Texas Invitational. With the loss, the Badgers fall to 7-7 on the season.
UCLA scored its only run of the game in the first inning. Tairia Mims earned a two-out walk and was doubled home by Stacey Nuveman. UCLA left the bases loaded in the second inning and neither team mounted a serious scoring threat from that point on.
Amanda Freed improved to 9-0 on the season, as she struck out eight without allowing a walk in the game. She pitched four perfect innings to close the game.
UCLA returns to action on Monday afternoon, playing a doubleheader at Southwest Texas State before returning to Westwood for the Easton Classic, which begins Friday, March 2, at 9 am at UCLA's Easton Stadium.
