LOS ANGELES -- The sixth-ranked UCLA women's tennis team won the doubles point then took five of six singles matches en route to a 6-1 win over UC Irvine at the Los Angeles Tennis Center on Thursday.
UCLA's Petya Marinova was the Bruins' top performer on the afternoon as she beat UCI's Natalie Exon, 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles. She also teamed with Lauren Fisher at No. 1 doubles, winning 8-5.
The Anteaters lone point came at No. 1 singles where UCLA's Sara Walker was forced to retire due to injury. UCI's Jonni Seymour was leading 6-5 in the first set when play was suspended.
Next up for UCLA will be No. 9 Pepperdine this Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in Malibu.
