Los Angeles -- Despite sweeping all three doubles matches, the UCLA women's tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision to No. 5 Texas at the Los Angeles Tennis Center on Sunday. With the loss, the Bruins fall to 3-9 on the season, while Texas improves to 8-1.
Bruin junior Petya Marinova, who has been on a hot streak as of late, won her fifth consecutive match, posting a 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 victory over Rebekah Forney at No. 2 singles. Marinova also teamed with freshman Lauren Fisher at No. 1 doubles, defeating the Longhorn tandem of Michelle Krinke/Kaysie Smashey, 8-1. Fisher and Marinova are ranked No. 16 in the latest ITA doubles rankings.
The Bruins hit the road this week, traveling to Arizona State on Friday and Arizona on Saturday.
