Box Score

Corvallis, OR - The fourth-ranked UCLA men's soccer team increased its unbeaten streak to seven games with a 3-0 shutout over Pac-10 Conference foe Oregon State. Senior forward Tim Pierce (Dana Point, CA/Santa Margarita HS) scored two goals, and goalkeeper Zach Wells (Costa Mesa, CA/Newport Harbor HS) tied the UCLA school record for saves with 11 and also added an assist on UCLA's final goal for good measure.

Wells came up huge for the Bruins, shutting out the Beavers despite a 25-shot barrage. Eight of Wells' saves came in the second half. Wells also contributed on the offensive front, launching a goal kick in the 74th minute that Cliff McKinley slipped in for UCLA's third goal. The assist was the first by a Bruin keeper since DJ Countess had one in 2000.

Pierce came off the bench to record his second multiple-goal game of the year. He scored the game-winner in the 44th minute when he took a Dru Hoshimiya pass and beat the Oregon State defender up the left side for a one-on-one goal against Beaver keeper Peter Billmeyer. Pierce struck again in the 52nd minute for his eight goal of the year, scoring from two yards out off an assist by Matt Taylor.

UCLA (9-1-2, 4-0-0 in Pac-10 play) will look for its first road victory against Washington in 22 years when it takes on the Huskies on Sunday, Oct. 27 at 2:00 pm. Oregon State's record falls to 10-4-0, 1-3-0 in the Pac-10.
