Men's Soccer Adds Erik Holt as Assistant Coach
January 26, 2026 | Men's Soccer
LOS ANGELES – The UCLA men's soccer program has hired UCLA alumnus Erik Holt as an assistant coach, head coach Ryan Jorden announced on Monday.
"I am very excited to add Erik to our coaching staff," head coach Ryan Jorden said. "As a former team captain and alum, he brings a strong affinity for the university and soccer program and is a fantastic model for the current team and future Bruins."
Most recently, Holt served as an assistant coach at Loyola Marymount in 2025 after a six-year MLS playing career with Real Salt Lake. During his lone season at LMU, he helped three Lions earn all-conference honors. Under Holt's tutelage, freshman Anthony Boyadjian earned all-freshman team honors, while Ismail Nieves and Nathan Rodrigues both were named All-WCC honorable mention honorees.
"It's an incredible honor to return to UCLA, a place that shaped me as a player and a person," Holt said. "This program's legacy is built on the generations of alumni who wore this crest and set the standard of excellence. I'm grateful for the opportunity to now serve as a coach, bring my professional experience back to Westwood, and help honor and continue what it means to be a part of UCLA men's soccer."
Prior to joining LMU as an assistant, Holt spent six years playing professionally with Real Salt Lake in Major League Soccer. Holt made 42 appearances and started in 30 matches for RSL. Primarily a central defender, Holt made a career-high 18 appearances and 14 starts in 2021, where he tallied his first professional goal for the club.
Before signing a homegrown deal with Real Salt Lake, Holt starred for the Bruins from 2015-2018, before graduating with a degree in political science. The San Diego, California native tallied 71 appearances and 61 starts across four seasons for the Bruins, and helped the Bruins make three NCAA Tournament appearances over his four years. Holt was also a two-time All-Pac 12 first-team selection and earned All-Far West Region first-team honors in 2018.
