Final Stats

Berkeley, CA - The fifth-ranked UCLA men's soccer team fell victim to a penalty kick goal in the 102nd minute, falling to sixth-ranked California, 1-0, in double overtime in Berkeley.

With 101:43 on the clock, a UCLA player was cited for a handball in the box, giving Cal a penalty kick. Midfielder Mike Hickman fired the penalty shot past UCLA goalkeeper Zach Wells, who dove in the opposite direction.

The two teams played a defensive game throughout, with the Bruins taking just four shots, only one of which was on goal. Wells made four saves on Cal's 10 shots, while Cal keeper Josh Saunders earned the shutout while making just one save on a Ryan Futagaki shot.

It was also a heated battle, as UCLA received five yellow cards and one red card to Cal's one yellow card. Bruin head coach Tom Fitzgerald was issued the red card at the conclusion of the match and will have to sit out Sunday's game against No. 9 Stanford.

The Bruins' record falls to 11-3-2, 6-2-0 in the Pac-10. Cal improves to 12-3-2, 5-1-1. UCLA remains in first place in the Pac-10 with 18 points, followed closely by Cal with 16 points.
