Los Angeles - The No. 5 UCLA men's tennis team improved to 8-1 on the year Saturday, knocking off San Diego, 6-1 in a dual match at the Los Angeles Tennis Center.

For the first time this year the Bruins lost the doubles point and found themselves down 1-0 heading into singles play.

UCLA, however, bounced back in singles, sweeping all six matches, four in straight sets. Sophomore Tobias Clemens extended his winning streak to 16 matches, downing USD's Ricardo Rizo, 6-3, 6-2 at No. 1 singles. Rodrigo Grilli, Lassi Ketola and Alberto Francis were all equally impressive, knocking off their opponents in straight sets as well.

Both Jean-Julien Rojer and Erfan Djahangiri were pushed to three sets, but managed to come out victorious in the end, helping UCLA to the 6-1 decision.

UCLA returns to action next Tuesday to host San Diego State in a dual match at the Los Angeles Tennis Center beginning at 1:30 p.m.
