UCLA Wins Three-Way Gym Meet at Washington

Seattle, Wash. - UCLA scored at least 49.050 on all four events to win a three-way women's gymnastics meet with Washington and Seattle Pacific. The sixth-ranked Bruins scored a season-best road total of 197.050, while the Huskies placed second at 195.000. Seattle Pacific scored 191.775. The meet drew a crowd of 3,123 at Bank of America Arena.
The Bruins broke the 197 barrier for the second consecutive meet, hitting 23 of 24 routines. Jeanette Antolin tied Washington's Emily Pritchard for first on vault with a career-best 9.95. Jamie Dantzscher and Malia Jones shared the beam title with scores of 9.875. Dantzscher also finished first on bars with her fifth consecutive score of 9.975. Jones finished second to Pritchard in the all-around with a season-high 39.325. Pritchard's winning total was 39.525.
UCLA was most impressive on vault, recording a season-best 49.45. Five of the Top 8 finishers on vault were Bruins, with Antolin leading the way in first place. Onnie Willis finished in third with a season-best 9.925. Yvonne Tousek was fourth with a season-high 9.9, Kristin Parker placed sixth with a 9.85, and Jones tied for seventh with a season-best 9.825.
Several other Bruins set season-bests, including Tousek on bars (9.95), Jones on beam (9.875, ties career high), Antolin on bars (9.775 on her first bar routine of the season), Valerie Velasco on floor (9.8) and Christy Erickson on floor (9.675, career-high).
"Our plan was to come up here and compete our whole team," said UCLA head coach Valorie Kondos Field. "It was important that everyone knew that they were expected to compete with Bruin pride and to get job done, and they did. I couldn't be more proud of them."
The win improved UCLA's record to 12-4, while the Huskies now stand 4-5 and the Falcons 3-7.
