Tough Day for UCLA Women at Ojai

Ojai, Calif. - Three UCLA women's tennis players suffered first-round losses Thursday in the opening day of competition at the Pac-10 Championships in Ojai, Calif.

Washington's Colleen Gray defeated UCLA's Petya Marinova, 6-2, 6-1. Bruin sophomore Mariko Fritz-Krockow fell to Washington State's Erica Perkins, 7-6, 6-2 and UCLA freshman Sarah Gregg was beaten by Dianne Hollands of Arizona, 7-6, 6-4.

UCLA's Megan Bradley, Sara Walker and Lauren Fisher have chosen not to play singles at Ojai, but are entered in the Pac-10 doubles draw, which begins Friday. Catherine Hawley, who was originally scheduled to play singles but had to withdraw due to illness, will team with Gregg to compete in the Pac-10 Invitational doubles draw.
