Fullerton, Calif. - The sixth-ranked UCLA men's soccer team defeated Cal State Fullerton at Titan Stadium for the first time in seven years, downing the Titans 3-1.

Ryan Futagaki put the Bruins on the scoreboard first in the 22nd minute. After a Tim Pierce shot was deflected by a Fullerton defender, the rebound went to Futagaki, who hit a sharp shot that hit the right post and went in for his second goal of the season.

In the 30th minute, Matt Taylor took a long pass from Cliff McKinley down the left flank on a breakaway and beat Titan goalkeeper Sam Reynolds from 16 yards out.

Fullerton cut the lead in half just two minutes into the second half after Titan forward Adriano Lima was taken down in the penalty area. Hector Orellana successfully converted the penalty kick, beating Bruin keeper Zach Wells with a shot to Wells' left. However, a Jimmy Frazelle 66th minute goal put the game away for good.

UCLA (3-0) will host San Diego in its 2002 home opener on Sunday, Sept. 15 on Frank W. Marshall Field at Drake Stadium at 1:00 pm.
