Los Angeles, CA - The top-ranked UCLA men's soccer team extended its winning streak to seven games with a 1-0 shutout victory over New Mexico at Drake Stadium. The Bruins (9-1-0) received the game-winning goal at 70:29 from senior forward Matt Taylor (Irvine, CA/Irvine HS), his eighth goal of the year.

New Mexico goalkeeper Andrew Weber kept the Lobos (3-5-3) in the game with a number of impressive saves. He was tested often in the game, with UCLA firing away 19 shots, including nine in the first half. Weber finished with 10 saves.

Taylor finally broke through in the 71st minute off a give-and-go from Cliff McKinley. Taylor accepted the pass from McKinley and chipped it over Weber's head for his third game-winner of the season.

"That was one of the greatest goals I have seen in a long time," said UCLA head coach Tom Fitzgerald. "It was set up great by Cliff, and Matt finished it with finesse."

Bruin goalkeeper Zach Wells finished with five saves in the game off eight Lobo shots and picked up his sixth shutout of the season.

UCLA next travels to Fresno State on Sunday, Oct. 12 for a 3 pm Pac-10 Conference game at Bulldog Stadium.
