Box Score

Los Angeles, CA - UCLA improved its winning streak to 14 games, the second-longest streak in school history, rolling to a 1-0 victory over Washington Friday night at Drake Stadium. Junior midfielder Aaron Lopez scored his first goal of the season at the 3:08 mark to account for the only score of the match.

Lopez fired off a long-distance shot from 24 yards out. Washington goalkeeper Danny Waltman leaped up to grab the ball, but as he came down, he lost the handle on the ball, and it squirted out of his hands and past the plane of the goal.

Each team tried valiantly to put another score on the board but to no avail. Washington fired off 10 shots, four of which were saved by Bruin goalkeeper Zach Wells, who picked up his 10th shutout of the season. The Bruins peppered Waltman with 17 shots total, and he made seven saves on the night.

The Bruins will host Oregon State on Sunday, Nov. 9 at 1 pm in a battle for the Pac-10 Championship crown. UCLA holds a one-game lead over the Beavers, and a Bruin victory would clinch their second consecutive Pac-10 Championship.
