
Bruins Tied for Third After First Round in Hawaii

The UCLA men's golf team is tied for third place after the first round in the Taylor Made Big Island Classic, hosted by Hawaii-Hilo University at the Waikoloa Resort.
The Bruins posted a score of 283, five-under par, and are tied with Lamar University. Both teams trail Oklahoma by two shots. Texas Christian is the tournament leader at 12-under par 276.
Individually, the Bruins' Steve Conway fired a three-under par 69 and is tied for sixth place. Junior John Merrick is tied for 12th at two-under par 70, followed by freshman Spencer Levin who is tied for 21st at one-under 71. Travis Johnson is tied for 46th after posting a 73 and Roy Moon is tied for 92nd after carding a 77.
Baylor's Ryan Baca took the first round lead with a six-under par 66. Three players are tied for second at 67.
