
Bruins Aced by Warriors, 3-1

The eighth-ranked UCLA men's volleyball team lost 3-1 to second ranked and defending NCAA champion Hawaii Saturday night in Pauley Pavilion.
Hawaii won 30-19, 30-23, 28-30, 30-19 in one hour and 50 minutes before 999 fans. The victory raised the Warriors' record to 15-5 overall, 9-5 in league play. The Bruins fell to 13-11, 8-9.
Sophomore Jonathan Acosta led UCLA with 17 kills (.394), three block assists, two digs and an ace, and freshman Matt McKinney added 15 kills. Senior Scott Morrow led UCLA with five block assists.
Senior Costas Theocharidis paced Hawaii with 27 kills (.489), six digs, one block and and two aces. Tony Ching added 19 kills (.607), four aces and three digs. Overall, the Warriors served eight aces, including six in Game 1.
The Bruins served just two aces and had 19 service errors.
The Bruins will take a week off for final exams and return to action Mar. 27 at Cal State Northridge. Their next home series is Apr. 11 and 12 against Stanford and Pacific.
