Junior Lena Nilsson (Vallentuna, Sweden/Vallentuna Gymnasium) of the UCLA Women's Track & Field Team was selected as the UCLA/MET-Rx Student-Athlete of the Week, for the week of Mar. 10-16.
Nilsson captured her first NCAA individual indoor title, winning the 800m in a time of 2:05.13. It was her first individual indoor title and her third NCAA title overall ? she won the 2002 outdoor 1500m title and the 2002 indoor distance medley relay. She also received her second indoor All-America honor and her third overall. Nilsson, who is UCLA?s school record holder in the outdoor 800m and 1500m, scored 10 points for the Bruins, which finished in a tie for eighth place overall.
This is Nilsson's first UCLA/MET-Rx Student-Athlete of the Week honor of the season and the third in her career.
