Co-Bars and Beam Winner...Kate Richardson, UCLA (9.900, 9.938)
About pressure or lack of being a freshman:
"It was my first time at nationals and it was a little bit nerve racking. I've never experienced anything like it. It's the most exciting competition I've ever been in. That made me a little bit nervous, but then I got calmed down it was an awesome experience."
"Basically it's what Jamie said, the individual awards are just icing on the cake. It's a big accomplishment to win the team title. It's been a goal for the entire year. My goal for tonight was to come into beam, it has been my best event all year. Bars was a little bit of a surprise, and that was more icing on the cake. I want to redeem myself for yesterday since I made a mistake on bars and being able to share it with Jamie was extra special and more icing on the cake."
Co-Bars Winner...Jamie Dantzscher, UCLA (9.900)
"Last night was definitely more special. That's what we came here to do, to win a national championship. We are pretty excited about that."
On mindset after bar routine:
"I was a little disappointed that I took a step. I usually stick my dismount. I just needed a minute to get over and I was fine. Sharing the title with one of my teammates was awesome. I guess you can't stick them all right?"
"I wasn't sure about the scores, I was just disappointed that I stepped on my landing."
"The team title is what we've been training for all year and the meaning of that I can't even put into words. Today, actually, I felt great. I didn't get much sleep last night I am kind of delirious, but I was in a good mood and my ankle felt fine for some reason. I wasn't as nervous as I was yesterday. The individual awards are just icing on the cake after the team awards."
