Gainesville, FL - Both Sara Walker and Jackie Carleton took second-round defeats this morning at the NCAA Singles Championships in Gainesville, FL. Walker, a senior, ends her UCLA career with an overall record of 123-45, while Carleton ends her freshman campaign at 24-13.

Walker, the No. 12 player in the ITA rankings, fell to No. 59 Tammy Encina of Tennessee, 6-3, 6-1. Carleton, the No. 20 player on the ITA's list, lost to No. 33 Julie Smekodub, 6-4, 7-5.

UCLA completed team competition last Friday when it fell to Duke, 4-0, in the NCAA Quarterfinals. The team finished with a record of 16-11 and a No. 13 ranking in the ITA Top-25 poll. The final poll will be released May 30.
