Richardson Named Pac-10 Gymnast Of The Week

Walnut Creek, Calif. - UCLA sophomore Kate Richardson has been named the Pacific-10 Gymnast of the Week for January 18-25, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today. This is her second Gymnast of the Week honor in her two-year career.
Richardson, hailing from Coquitlam, British Columbia, helped No. 6 UCLA upset Georgia in Athens on Jan. 19, for the first time since 1988. She placed second in the all-around with a 39.7, tied for first on vault (9.95), second on bars (9.925), and fourth on beam (9.925) and floor (9.9).
On Jan. 25, she led UCLA to a second-straight road win at Minnesota, putting on a dominating performance. Richardson won the all-around with a 39.75 and placed first in all four events, scoring a perfect 10 on the vault - her first on that apparatus. Richardson has recorded two perfect 10s this season, and no score lower than 9.9. On her way to another great season, Richardson's all-around season average is an astounding 39.777.
