Francis Falls in Round of 16 at All-American Championships

Chattanooga, Tenn. - Senior men's tennis player Alberto Francis, UCLA's last remaining player at the Icy Hot/ITA All-American Championships, dropped his round of 16 singles match Friday.

Francis, who won a pair of matches on Thursday, dropped a close three-setter on Friday, falling to Old Dominion's Izak Van Der Merwe, 7-6(5), 2-6, 6-4.

UCLA's Kris Kwinta and Chris Lam lost first-round singles matches on Thursday. Francis and Kwinta, the Bruins' lone team in the doubles draw, were also beaten in the first round.

Next up for the Bruins will be the Midland Invitational, Oct. 15-17 and the ITA Regionals, Oct. 21-25.
