Bruins in Second Place after Round One in Hawaii

The No.2 ranked UCLA men's golf team is in second place after the first round of the TaylorMade Big Island Classic at the Waikoloa King's Course. The tournament is being hosted by the University of Hawaii-Hilo.
UCLA posted a team score of 282, six-under par, and trails first place Georgia Tech, which fired a team score of 272, 16-under. Washington and Arizona State are tied for third place at 283, followed by UC Davis and Stanford at 284.
Individually for UCLA, junior John Poucher is tied for second place with Washington All-American Brock Mackenzie at 68. They trail Georgia Tech's Nicholas Thompson, who fired an eight-under par score of 64.
UCLA senior Travis Johnson is tied for 11th place after posting a two-under par 70. Steve Conway is tied for 24th at one-under 71, Roy Moon is tied for 41st at one-over par 73 and John Merrick is tied for 85th after a 77.
Second round action continues Thursday.
