Bruins Ninth After Two Rounds in Cleveland Classic

The No.2 ranked UCLA men's golf team is temporarily in ninth place after darkness forced the suspension of play in the second round of the Cleveland Classic at North Ranch Country Club in Westlake.

The Bruins started with a nine-over par score of 293 in the first round. In the second round, they were eight-over par with one unfinished score left to count. Host USC leads the tournament at two-under par followed by Texas at two-over par and BYU at plus four. All four teams are among 14 that still must finish the second round.

Four UCLA players posted their second round scores Monday. Steve Conway is tied for 32nd place at 146 (+4), John Poucher and John Merrick are tied for 44th at 149 (+7), and Roy Moon is tied for 75th at 155 (+13). Travis Johnson posted a six-over par score of 77 in the first round, but was four-under through 15 holes in the second round. He is currently tied for 19th place at two-over par.

Matt Rosenfeld of Texas leads the field at seven-under par 135 after posting rounds of 67-68.

Completion of the second round begins Tuesday at 7:30 a.m. The thrid round will start at 8:30 a.m. from the first and 10th tees.
