Bruins Finish Second at Regional Challenge

The second-ranked UCLA women's golf team finished second Wednesday at the Regional Challenge, hosted by Ohio State and USC at the Palos Verdes Golf Club in Palos Verdes, Calif.

The Bruins posted a score of 305 (+21) in the final round for a 54-hole total of 898, 46-over par. Pepperdine won the team title with a score of 896 (+44) after posting a team score of 304 in the final round. Top-ranked Duke placed third at 900 (+48), followed by Florida at 904 and Washington at 906.

Individually for UCLA, senior Charlotte Mayorkas captured second place at 217 (+4) after posting a one-over par score of 72 in the final round. Junior Susie Mathews and senior Melissa Martin tied for sixth place 222 (+9). Martin also posted a 72 in the final round, but it was not counted in team scoring because she played as an individual. Sophomore Hannah Jun tied for 15th at 226 (+13) and freshman Amie Cochran tied for 48th at 235. Freshman Vanessa Brockett tied for 55th at 236.
